White lines run in an artistic fashion (on the cover of the book) to form a slender, wild, yet graceful girl walking around, making her way through the chilly woods with an ease of a fox.
She trots on the snow ️ covered ground delicately, taking care not to disturb the lovely white ground. She carries an ocean in her heart, as blue as her eyes, frozen like the frost on her hair. She is a miracle. She is mundane. Look at her and you see two things, the ORDINARY and the OTHERWORLDY, both combined in such beautiful proportions that you cannot help but reach out your hands to touch her cheeks, caress them. Hug her and hold her close.
You never want to let her go. She is a stranger, an outsider, a CHILD OF THE SNOW, but she feels like your own. And as soon as your hands start to get used to her touch, she disappears. Melts into the wind like frost on leaves leaving an imprint of her presence in your hearts and in your minds.
You ache for her sight. Just once again.
You want to feel her cool, blue stare. Just once again.
She belongs to the wild. How can you keep her inside?
She is a miracle child. Can you afford to not know her?
THE SNOW CHILD by Eowyn Ivey took me by surprise. I was NOT expecting it to be this…this…soooo… GOD, I AM OUT OF WORDS!! *sighs dreamily at the memory of my first reading of the book*
It’s one of those stories that glide easily from the surface of the pages in the book to the depths of your mind and heart without any help of your own.
You just need to know how to comprehend the words and make sense of them. JUST THIS BASIC TECHNIQUE and YOU ENTER A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES while reading The Snow Child. And I mean the POSSIBILITIES OF EMOTIONS that you will feel. Countless thoughts will run in your mind, each a bit different from the other but all tugging at the strings of your delicate yet mighty heart, asking you –
“How is this possible that something so beautiful can exist in a world SOOO devoid of magic?”
This book is a blessing to all those out there with a magical soul but living in a black and white world. Ironically, the whole story takes place in a snowy world of its own but the colors will be seen in the flight that your mind will take at the entry of the beautiful words. I can guarantee you a B E A U T I F U L journey if you decide to pick up this book.
But…
BE WARNED.
You may start hearing the child’s giggles and may start seeing her pale and beautiful face flashed in your window time and again. BUT THAT JUST MEANS THE STORY HAS WORKED IT’ S MAGIC and now it’s your turn to keep it alive in your hearts FOREVER.
Sooooooooooooooooo??

I did! It was such a sweet story. Even where it was sad it filled me with hope. You’re right just the blending of magic and emotions. Was the magic in Alaska or in the snow…or was it in Mabel and Jack all along…they just needed to believe in each other again. And I guess I’m a romantic, I loved that Garrett discovered the sweet magic as well.
I’m so happy exams are behind you! A wonderful reason to celebrate. Then comes the crashing, right? Just so worn from the semester that all you want to do is Nothing! Whenever you feel like writing we’ll all be here ready to read. Enjoy your break and take care 😊❤️
