”NO POSTS ON SUNDAYS!!” – probably the last sentence Mr Dursley ever uttered with joy!
High school finals + my copy of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone hidden behind THAT BIG BULKY Biology book, which merely served as a decoy to fool mumma! ;p
I didn’t get to read Harry Potter as a kid but the magic was just the same even at seventeen – which was when I experienced this magical world for the first time (through the written word, I mean) I WENT CRAZYYY!! I would read it before going to bed – IN BED – before going to school – after school – THE WHOLE FUCKING DAY. Which was probably why I scored so less in Chemistry but that’s a different issue altogether! ;p
Having watched ALL of the movies as an 11 year old, I knew about the plot but NOTHING could have prepared me for the absolutely enchanting world that was waiting for me in those pages! OH THE MAGIC – it pulled me in FROM THE VERY FIRST SENTENCE. Rowling’s way of writing is just as gorgeous as the world she has created and THE FIRST TIME I JOURNEYED INTO IT, I wanted to lock the door behind me so that no one could come looking!
This one time, I took my copy of Order of The Phoenix into the bath – because mumma would’ve been FURIOUS had she seen me reading it during exams – and accidentally dropped it in water. I CRIED MY EYES OUT THAT DAY! But….it didn’t stop me from continuing the journey, of course.
My love affair with Harry Potter – the books AND the movies – is more than a decade old and with each passing re-read, it turns into something even more magical but BY GOD I WISH I COULD GO BACK IN TIME AND EXPERIENCE IT WITH FRESH EYES ALL OVER AGAIN!
I could talk on and on about how I used to imagine getting my very own Hogwarts letter, packing up, and leaving the boring muggle life behind me; how fascinated I was with their book-lists at the start of each term and how I jumped up and down with joy when I discovered Quidditch Through the Ages, Tales of Beedle the Brad, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them –
You just became my favorite person ever!! 💜💙💚❤ Never mind the fairy tales, just give me Harry Potter and I’ll be happy!!! 😊 I am so very disappointed that I’m not on the Hogwarts Express right now 😥

Visiting Universal’s Harry Potter was magical too because… presto – I was in the book! It is done so well, I felt like I was truly experiencing the story in a whole new way. With my cup of butterbeer in hand, I walked around Honeydukes, picking out all my favorite candies. The chocolate frogs are most enjoyable. I then picked out my wand at
Ollivanders and went on to do so much more. ❤️❤️❤️

I was 13 when I first discovered Harry Potter. I just borrowed a copy from my classmate, and my life was changed!! Book 3 Prisoner of Azkaban was the first book I have ever read overnight. My mom was just amused that I didn’t get any sleep 😂

Totally agree 😀 the first 3 books were already out when I started reading them, I remember staying up in the night to finish! It was super exciting waiting for new books to come out.

AHHH!!! In my case, ALL of them were out by the time I discovered the books – although I had watched all the movies as a kid. I kinda wish I could have shared in that excitement as well – that eagerness of a new release!!!! ❤

I still remember getting Goblet of Fire delivered we paid for same day delivery as the release and I had never been so happy to hear something hit my porch hard. I jumped right out bed and the box was done up to look like an owl! It was such fun 🙂 I doubt they’ll ever be “event” books to that level again!

WHOAAA!!! REALLYYY??!?!??! That must have looked so prettyyy, though!!!! And I TOTALLYYYY AGREEE – no series would even come close to Harry Potter, I am pretty sure…although secretly, I hope they do! 😉
And you know my worst fear? That a few decades later, Harry Potter movies will be remade and ….and…..*gasp* I can’t..I DON’T THINK I WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE THAT! None of us will, I am sure!

Your recollections about sneaking a read in every possible (and impossible – see: bathroom 😀 ) circumstance resonated quite loudly with me, because from the time I learned to read I could not stay away from a book for too long: I can happily say I’m *addicted* to books!
As for Harry Potter, I came to it at a very late age, when the series was in its mid-course and I in my mid-forties, and yet I enjoyed the story all the same, because I believe it appeals to the child in us, that creature that we must always, always keep alive 🙂
Thanks for sharing!!!

I love Harry Potter. I had to take a step back recently because Rowling ugh, but I do still love the stories, they’re pretty magical. 🙂

I LOVE HP! I’m about to start the books with my daughter, her first time and probably my fourth or so.
Happy reading!

You always have the most insane stories with your books hahahah dropping a copy of HP in water… Damn. That hurts!!!! I actually read the first HP this year for the first time ever, at least properly from start to finish hahaha I wanted to continue with book 2 but other books got in the way, and then the JK Rowling controversy through Twitter came to existence and made me halt in my excitement to read the rest of the series hahah What did you think about her thoughts on trans? 😮
