[A BLOGGER’S LIFE] What does it take to be a better blogger? //E V E R Y T H I N G//

There are thousands of blogs out there. Thousands of people doing EXACTLY what you are doing. Punching words, copy-pasting pics, hitting publish. JUST THAT. But for some reason, their blogs are doing better than yours. WAYYYY BETTER.

How?

I have been thinking about it a lot lately. Observing other blogs. The behaviors of the minds behind them. All the best ones that I have come across till now have some things in common. WHAT ARE THEY?

It’s not like they have cosmic powers or anything like that! OR DOOOO THEYYY??? *gasps*

LET’S FIND OUT!

THEY ARE CONSISTENT

I started this blog in 2017. In September, to be precise. I was having so much fun meeting new people, making friends, sharing my opinions. But due to some reason I had to take a year off (as some of you already know).

Looking back at that time, if I am being honest, I didn’t really need to take a complete break. I realize now that even during that year, I had more than enough time to keep posting once or twice a week. But I sought the easy way out and shut my blog off completely.

I ask myself today, WAS THAT A GOOD MOVE? Needless to say, it wasn’t.

tumblr_o28ug46wrh1t9sksvo1_400

Had I stayed consistent even when it got a bit difficult, had I stayed the course and tried a bit harder, I would be in a better place than I am now.

laurels+flowers_0007_Vector Smart Object

IT’S NOT JUST A HOBBY WITH THEM

Now, I know some of you who have read my last post might think I am being a bit contrary here but I am not. Just hear me out.

Of course, the first and foremost rule of blogging is to do it for fun, to take pleasure in it.

But, in my experience, there comes a phase every once in a while when even the things you REALLY love lose their charm.

And when that happens, there are two courses of action before you:

•  You can either just go to the extreme and decide that maybe it wasn’t for you.

•  Or you can keep doing it for a little while more, hoping that it’ll pass (although you might have to work twice as hard for it.)

The first one is a very defeatist approach. You must never throw in the towel at the first hints of a struggle. Really, if anyone of you is a runner here then you know how fucking hard those first couple of miles are! But once your body adjusts to this new activity, it feels like you are flying, your lungs are on fire and you feel like you could just keep running till the end of your days!

tumblr_opsxxupnps1vfecm0o1_500

Yes, that’s it. That rule applies to everything in life, including blogging.

Push through the proverbial pain. It WILL get better. And before you know it, you will be doing your best! And that’s all that REALLY counts, isn’t it?

So please, don’t fall down just yet. Hold it, for a little bit longer.

laurels+flowers_0007_Vector Smart Object

THEY COMMENT BACK

Do you have any idea how absolutely rude it is for you to just leave all the comments unliked and unreplied? (is that a word?)

Reading a post and then leaving a thoughtful comment TAKES TIME. And if your lovely readers can take precious time out of their schedules to comment on your posts, the LEAST you can do is fucking reply! I am sorry but I feel really strongly about this one.

tumblr_onewo9zhgq1uauof6o1_500
DON’T TAKE THIS PERSONALLY!!! xDxDxD

And hey, I totally understand that commenting back feels like a full-time job sometimes.

So what?

Blogging is not ALL FUN AND GAMES. It takes ACTUAL WORK (as you already know) And who’s asking you to comment back immediately anyway? Set a day aside and engage with all the comments on your posts on then. Readers are not easily offended. If you apologize for taking a bit of time to reply, they will understand. But they WILL get pissed off when weeks go by, you have put more posts out there and still, their thoughts go unacknowledged.

The best bloggers out there always take this rule to heart. They may be late in replying sometimes but they NEVER forget it.

That said, while I was on my unannounced hiatus, some totally awesome people commented on my posts but since I was away, I didn’t know about it and I just discovered that I had unapproved ones and I FEELL SOO FUCKING GUILTY NOW! So yeah AGAIN learn from all the messed up examples (a k a ME) before you and DONT COMMIT SUCH BLOGGING SINS.

laurels+flowers_0007_Vector Smart Object

THEY RECOGNIZE THE VALUE OF FRIENDS

Believe it or not, it’s always friends who will give you the acknowledgment you deserve and desire.

Every blog has those readers who like/comment on a couple of posts and then don’t come back for an eternity! 🤣🤣 And hey, that’s fine! They have their charm too.

But it’s only those who you have really connected to and made friends with who will always encourage you on every single one of your posts.

They will like them, comment on them, give you shout outs. ALL of these things are very important in the blogging community. And if you are thinking that you can survive without them, then you are so fucking wrong. Because without people reading what you write, you may as well stop blogging and go write in a fucking notebook.

But if you want genuine appreciation and support, then you better climb off that high horse and start being nice to people.

LIFE’S BETTER WITH FRIENDS and SO IS BLOGGING!

THEY GIVE BACK

When you visit a blog, like the posts, comment on them, the blogger isn’t automatically required to reciprocate it. There is no rule that says that.

BUT the best ones out there know the value of a community enough to not just be a taker. They give back TEN TIMES the love you offer them. Whenever and however their time allows.

They know that every single one of us is struggling out here and trying our hardest and they make sure that we know how much they appreciate our support. That’s a trait everyone of us should learn if we want to be loved in this community.

Listen, the ONLY way you move upwards in ANY area of life is by helping others, taking them with you.  And don’t you fear that if they get better, you might lose your place.

THERE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR EVERY ONE OF US IN THIS BEAUTIFUL WORLD.

  1. Yes to all of the above. I use to stress so much about how I was letting the comments build up and not responding sooner, but now I’ve somehow managed to come to a compromise and can set aside a day in the week to catch up with my comments and the system works so better. Running a blog takes a whole lot of dedication, so we’re awesome for sticking to it. 😉

    1. I know right!? The same happened with me too! Some weeks when I don’t have that much work load, I set aside an hour to respond to/approve comments. It’s way easier than trying to manage it all haphazardly!

YEAAAHHHHH! It’s soo much work but the satisfaction makes all the work worth it! ❤️

  2. I AGREE WITH ALL THIS, ESPECIALLY THE COMMENT BACK THING! It’s so hard to write a meaningful comment sometimes and EVERYTIME I get a comment, it makes my day. It really does. I KNOW how hard it is so making time to thank them is really important! 🙂

    1. EXACTLY! And that’s what gets me the most, you know! It’s not like people are unaware of the fact that it takes a considerate of time for a reader to read and comment and when they blatantly refuse to acknowledge that, it’s just….I HATE IT! you HAVE to make time for it. Twice a week/once a week..whatever frequency works for you but make sure you make the readers feel acknowledged.
I am so glad you agreed, Beck! ❤️❤️❤️

  3. RAIN!!!! YASSSS TO THIS!!!!! I think lots of people forget that most of blogging, especially book blogging, is a two way thing. If you just want to put your thoughts somewhere with no interaction then that’s a journal or diary and that’s okay. But blogging is made more fun by checking out the posts of your friends. Seeing what they’re up to. Having lovely little chats. Blogging is communication to me. And communication is a two way process. I love this post wholeheartedly. I mean look, we all want more followers because we are only human. But it’s the friends that we make through blogging that really makes it fun to stick around. Love this post so much my friend!!! <3333333

    1. YESSS!! EXACTLYY! 😍😍 There are loads of people who treat their blogs as online journals and that’s okay. Cool. I have no beef with you. You do you. BUT when you are in a community such as this, where you are discussing about things and putting your opinions out there, it’s natural that people will comment with their own thoughts about those topics and when their comments go unnoticed, it’s natural that they will hesitate to comment again! And the same go with people who are downright rude in their replies as welll! I have seen that too and it’s SUCH A SHAME!

I TOTALLY AGREEEE!! We all want followed and THATS OKAY! ITS SUCH FUN WATCHING THOSE NUMBERS GROW, to be honest (guilty as charged 🤣🤣) BUT FRIENDS MAKE IT ALL THE MORE BETTERR!! 😍😍❤️❤️

THANK YOU SOO MUXH FOR ALL THE LOOOVEEE, Emerr!! 😍😍❤️ YOU ARE THE SWEEEETESSTTTTTT!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩 You deserve a cookie 🍪! 😘😘❤️

But yup, I’m totally on your wavelength with this. Like I’m here for the chats, the banner, to share opinions, ideas and also to make friends!!! I 100% love blogging because it makes me feel a part of a little community and that really means so much to me. And definitely when someone comments on my post or I comment on theirs and they reply… AHHH I get all those great feels!!! I’m just sitting down now to go through my comments for the day and to see who’s been chatting with me on my posts and it really feels like a privilege to know that people are reading my thoughts and sharing theirs with me. :)))))))) <33333

The pressure is a given when you take up blogging but as you do it more and figure out a system that works for you, you ease into it and then it’s just a part of your routine, no different than eating or sleeping, to be honest.
And I agree, when you don’t lose sight of the “why” behind your blog, you will figure out the “how” eventually! ❤️❤️

LOVEEEE ALL YOUR COMMENTS, Sofi! You always make my day!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘😘

  5. Such a great post loaded with marvelous tips! I’m a big fan of the social aspect of blogging – I love reviewing books but without the interaction with other bloggers, readers, and authors I might as well be shouting into a vacuum! It’s so great to be able to share my love of books with others!

I definitely agree with what you said, and it’s a great reminder for me to be more active and to make sure I’m giving back the love that people give me, since I’ve been sucking at it so much lately. I think sometimes it’s hard to keep up with having to interact and such, especially taking into consideration energy and health, but I still think it’s important! Blogging takes a lot of work, but I feel like that just makes the reward even sweeter 🥰

Being a good blogger also means accepting that the more blogs you follow, the less time you have to like/comment on everyone’s so you end up being more selective… and you learn not to bother commenting on people’s who never reply.

  13. It’s true that keeping a blog – though fun – requires some work, but it’s important to remember it’s a work of love: we love books, we love sharing our thoughts on them or learning of new ones to add to our ginormous TBRs. And that takes some of the “weight” off from the necessary commitment…
    Moreover… did I already mention that it’s FUN? 😉

  14. Bloggers having cosmic powers could be possible— I’m not saying for definite but you never know!! 😂
We had a similar start by the sounds of it because I was not consistent at all and had mini hiatuses all over the place so my blog didn’t grow that much in the first year and it was a bit of a mess too!! Being consistent does make a really big difference to blog growth.
I think pushing through the hard times can be really good as you all have ups and downs but sticking with it can make you a better blogger and from my experience at the end of it you can feel more passionate soon and have a clearer image of where your blog is going– obviously prioritise yourself as well.
I loved this post and it had so much great advice– lots of people should read this post just saying!! ❤ ❤

Now I often look to see whether the blogger bothers to comment back. I don’t hold it against them if they don’t but I don’t bother commenting either. It’s not personal, I just don’t see the point. If they aren’t there to interact, then it doesn’t seem like they care if you comment anyway.

SAME! Even if I like a post, I don’t comment on it if the blogger has left the previous ones unanswered! Not to be snobbish but what’s the point when they don’t value the opinions of their readers enough to at least have the courtesy to reply? 😕😕

I think its really important to support those who support you. I like getting to know those who visit me too, even if we don’t enjoy the same kinds of books. Preach, gurl! 😛 I believe in every single one of these and find that anyone who lacks in any of these better have good reasons or else they’ll come off as super rude or unfriendly. You just need to do it for fun, do it for yourself, consider everyone as your friend, treat them as such and behave politely in the way you express your opinion. If everyone does that, then we got a happy land! Great post, Rain! ❤

    1. I agree! It’s just…like when I went without so much as a post on my upcoming absence, people must have thought me rude when I wasn’t able to reply to their comments and emails . And you know what, one of them actually sent me an email (which I read SEVERAL MONTHS LATER) saying that I wasn’t a good friend and I am a snob since I left all of their comments unanswered and their emails unacknowledged! 😭😭😭 I tried very hard to renew our friendship but it just didn’t work! So I know what it can do for your readers and friends! I saw that sometimes people underestimate the downside of unannounced hiatuses, not commenting back, not being kind…

So yeah, we all must strive to be consistent and when we see that we won’t be, we MUST always announce it before we leave! 😅😅🤣🤣🤣 It has happened to me and I don’t want ANYONE to EVER go through such unpleasantness! EVERRR! Hurts when people say such things about you, you know! 😕😕😭😭

I mean, I’m sure you had really good reasons to leave unannounced and that person shouldmve inquired on that before saying such things. I guess they really cared a lot about your friendship with them or something. I just know some people who don’t reply at all (like 99%) of the time and I don’t know how people even bother leaving comments knowing that. I know I’d give up quick since I will always prefer investing my time in people who do care about answering back! 😂

  19. This is such an awesome post and I agree with everything here. Engagement is soooo important and a lot of people seem to either be too overwhelmed by it or just don’t feel like it. I totally get it can be difficult at times and if you miss a comment here or there, the world won’t likely come crashing down lol I personally do my best to comment back to everyone and then go comment on their blogs. Yes, it’s super time consuming and I run a large online book club on top of it – so I get it. Some days it’s like “BUT….. I DONT WANNAAAAAA.” Do it anyway lol And like you said, people will be fine if you don’t reply right away, even if you take a few days. It’s when I comment over and over on someone’s blog showing support and than they never acknowledge my existence that I’m ok, “Ok, cool… didn’t want to be friends anyway” *sniff*

    Liked by 1 person

    1. YOU RUN A BOOK CLUB, Melanie!? 😍😍😍😱😱😱 I did NOT know that! SOOO AWESOMEEE! ❤️❤️❤️👻👻👻

I totally understand what you are saying, hon! Commenting back and showing support sometimes does seem like a full time job and it’s so hard to strike a healthy balance and not being stuck to your phone whole day, making sure you don’t miss any! I find that assigning specific time slots and days to it helps a lot! I am not good at multitasking so yeah..I try to do it before sleeping, or when I am not doing anything else.

AND YESS!! IT HURTS WHEN THEY DONT COMMENT BACK, right!? THATS WHY I TALKED ABOUT THAT ONE SPECIFICALLY! But I have found that although being social and interacting is not everyone’s forte, sometimes people are just busy and they forget so yeah, I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt before jumping to any conclusions! 😊😊😊❤️❤️

As MUST be the case with those blogs that you say sometimes don’t acknowledge your comments, BECAUSE WHO WOULDN’T WANNA BE YOUR FRIEND!?!? ❤️😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘 YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGG!! ❤️❤️❤️💕💕💕👻👻😍😍😍

I follow a lot of blogs and I’ve come to the point when after visiting some blogs repeatedly and sharing their posts on Twitter, leaving comments, etc. AND I hear nothing back … then I’m not going to keep interacting with them anymore. If you’re not engaged with your followers then why even blog?

I would like to advice you to make friends with those who are ACTUALLY interested! And make it a priority to not overindulge, hon! Just leave thorough, meaningful comments on blogs you are interested in and wait. And before you know it, you’ll make real friends in the blogging community!

DONT YOU DARE LOSE HOPE, okayyy!? I AM SURE YOUR BLOG IS ABSOLUTELY FUCKING AWESOMEEE!! 😍😍❤️❤️❤️ I will check it out soon! AND WE ARE GOING TO BE GREAT FRIENDSS!! YAYYY!! ❤️❤️❤️😘😘😘👻👻👻💕💕💕

Thank YOU SOOO MUCCHHH FOR READINGG!! ❤️❤️❤️👻👻👻👻

  21. Fantastic post.👍📚 Totally agree with your points. Have to say though that I’m a blogger who doesn’t really comment on posts. I try, if I have something worthwhile to say but it sort of got to the stage where I felt I could only write ‘great review’ or similar so many times. With so many blogs, I generally like the post and share quite a lot on SM too but commenting, something that I suck at.

I do try and reply to comments on my own blog. Sometimes not sure what to reply and then I just like the comment. But, for things like lengthy comments and especially for discussion posts I’ll always try and reply as it is polite. The whole idea of a discussion post is to discuss and well, more and more seem not to bother nowadays replying to any comments or only those bloggers that they know.

I definitely agree with the whole reciprocal thing. There’s a few blogs that I follow and like their posts, etc and they never return the favour. I know it’s not expected but it’s the decent thing to try and do and getting ignored sucks big time.

I guess commenting and choosing not to reply to any comments is just how some people are. Likewise, some have blogs but don’t read other blogs.😂

Not too sure about the consistency bit. I know a few who post very sporadically and yet they get all the love when they post whereas others post all the time and go largely under the radar. But, yeah, I can’t be too keen on consistency as I’m not consistent.😂

    1. It’s fine not to comment, you know..I mean, I agree, it’s a personal choice and some people don’t really like to and like you said, some can’t think of what to say and THAT’S FIINNEEEE! It’s just that…what REALLLYYY bugs me to be honest is when some bloggers don’t even acknowledge the comments on THEIR posts! You just mentioned that when you don’t know what to say, you at least LIKE the comment, right? AND THATS GOOOODD! That’s ALLL the readers want anyway, right? Just the acknowledgement! That’s it! That’s the decent thing to do, isn’t it?

And YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT that there are some blogs who aren’t there for the engagement aspect of it but I have found that those blogs usually have personal updates, you know.. but book blogs, entertainment blogs – their posts are such that people are gonna wanna comment and share their opinions as well and it’s just not good to not acknowledge them by AT LEAST LIKING, right? 🤣🤣🤣 And I AGREE that sometimes we JUST DONT HAVE ENOUGH TIME and that’s alright, A LIKE IS FINNEEE TOOO, that’s all! Hahahah!! 🤣🤣

You are right! Some bloggers post once a week and their comments hit the roof but the blogs that I have come across that are like that, are usually WELL ESTABLISHED you know. They have been blogging for 5-6 years and so their readers know what to expect and WHEN to expect it. But all those relatively new blogs NEED to be more consistent IF they are serious about blogging, that is. 😅😅😊😊❤️❤️❤️

You aren’t consistent? Well, that’s not really that much of an issue since YOUR BLOG IS ALREADY AMAZING! 😍😍❤️❤️👻👻👻

And Drew, you do MUCH MORE THAN JUST COMMENTING FOR YOUR FELLOW BLOGGERS! YOU SHARE THE POSTS YOU LIKE! Not many people do that SO YEAH…YOU ARE DEFINITELY ONE OF THE ‘BEST’ and FRIENDLIEST bloggers out there! 😊😊😊😍😍❤️❤️❤️

      1. It is the decent thing to do, yes, I totally agree. It’s that acknowledgement that you have seen the comment and even if you don’t reply you like it and that shows you’ve actually seen it and read it. Otherwise, it’s just ignored and then you do question what is the point and if it has even been read.

Once a week! Lol, that’s true, their comments sky rocket but I was thinking more of the ones who post once a month or even once every six-eight weeks and are still mega popular.

Yeah, I agree about being established and you are right about new blogs too as they need to get their blog and name out there. I think it’s a tricky one to be honest. Blogging isn’t easy and many new bloggers seem to think that it is. It takes time, effort, etc and I think that impacts their consistency. I don’t really know, I’m just musing as when I started blogging I just sort of jumped in blind with no real thought or preparation to it.😂

Nope, I’m not consistent.😂 I guess, at a stretch you could say that I am as I do post music Monday consistently.😂 But, for other posts, no, not at all. Lots of factors, time, how quick I can read, can I be bothered to write the review straight away or leave it and mostly, my mood has a big impact on my blogging consistency.😂

Ha, I definitely wouldn’t say that my blog is amazing but thank you.👍📚

I think that quite a few bloggers share other bloggers posts but I know that a lot don’t either. It’s all about sharing the blog and the book love at the end of the day.👍

      2. YESS! EXACTLY my point! 😊😊

Oh? There are bloggers who just post ONCE A MONTH? Damn! 😱 I would like to see those blogs!! 😱 I am intrigued. Could you tell me the name of their websites please? ☺️☺️❤️

ME NEITHER! Well I had just a vague idea of what I wanted to blog about but I HAD A HARD TIME FIGURING OUT HOW TO GO ABOUT IT! 😅😅

WELL CONSISTENT OR NOT, I have read your one of your review and it was really INTERESTING and you write with a clarity that’s hard to find. #MyHonestOpinion 😊😊😊👻👻👻

I look forward to more of your posts, Drew!

        HAVE A FANTASTIC WEEEKKK!! 😍😍❤️❤️👻👻👻

      3. Oh, yeah, there are. They are around. Perhaps a bit more than once a month and then at other times even longer in between posts.😂 I guess that it is your blog and your rules though and you blog how you want and when you want.👍

Not sure I’d say that anything I write is interesting.😂 Occasionally filthy but never interesting and not sure about clarity either but thank you.😀

  22. I’m just dedicating some time now to comments and going round people’s blog. Including yours. I just wrote a post today about the pressures of being a book blogger. I’m going to enjoy it more. I’ve been blogging for 7 years and I want that love back from when I first started. I will be consistent, I will take time to talk to my blogging friends me discovering new ones and I will enjoy it. Great post. 🧡

    1. Yeah, you know when you are consistent your readers know when to expect your content and that gives you credibility! That’s all this is for anyway, right? SO YESSS, GREAT DECISION – START BEING MORE REGULAR and I AM SURE YOU WILL GET ALLLLLLLL YHE LOOOVEEEEE, hon! 😍😍❤️❤️😘😘👻👻

THANK YOU SOOO VERYYY MUCH! I am so glad you liked what I wrote! 😊😊❤️

  23. I was just talking again on my blog how annoying it is when people don’t comment back. And openly whine ‘oh it takes so much time’ well tough luck, other people can do it, so can you if you want readers. It is so sad when I see people who I know to leave a lot of comments have like 1 or 2 under their own posts. It’s a total lack of respect to one’s readers to do that. We are all busy and yet some of us manage to do this so others really shouldn’t whine and act like leaving comments is an inconvenience.

  24. Once again, I am amazed by your writing skills. Everything you said was expressed perfectly and I agree with everything!

The comments especially. I personally don’t have the time to blog every day, or to read other people’s posts daily or reply to comments (I usually schedule my posts in advance) so I get that it can be “easy” to leave the comments you recieve unanswered… but that’s just so rude. As you said, it doesn’t really matter if you reply late, we all have lives and understand that we’re not always available. But I honestly always check out the people who comment on my posts and I always find GREAT new content, or form connections and bond over opinions with them. Whenever I comment on somebody’s post and I never hear back from them it makes me want to prioritize reading and commnting on other blogs first.

    1. AWWWWWW!! THANK YOU SO SO SOOOOOO MUCH, Leyre, for THIS AMAZING COMMENT!! 😭😭😭😭😍😍❤️❤️ YOU ARE TOO SWEET! I don’t deserve YOUUU!! 😭😭😭😭😭

And I am Soo glad you agree with me on the comments one! Because this oneBUGS ME THE MOST! I mean…like you said….no one cares if you reply a bit late…just so long as you DOOOOO!!

AND YEAHHH….there are some blogs where I frequently comment because I fucking like their content but they NEVER reply….their ratio is like…I will comment on 5 posts, they will choose which one of those 5 fucking comments is worthy enough of their fucking reply like WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!?! That’s ACTUALLY insulting! So now, I have just stopped visiting their blogs. I mean…WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU EXPECT!?! No one’s here for a lesson in snobbery sister. You either play nice or you don’t play at all! *mic drop* 🤪🤪

      1. You really do write amazingly though, do you like it? would you like to write a book someday? I’d buy it.

It’s just not something nice to do. People take time out of their days to read your posts and comment on it, the least you can do is acknowledge that effort and reply back. It’s also the best way to create connections with people in this community.

P.S. That mic drope was EPIC! Tell’em girl

      2. Yesss! And if you so dislike the engagement on your posts then there is always an option of disabling comments on posts, isnt there?

        HAHAHAH!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ps: I actually am working on a novel, a fantasy work…..its taking its sweet time! Lets just hope that the finished book is worth reading! 🤣🤣

  25. “Because without people reading what you write, you may as well stop blogging and go write in a fucking notebook.” 👏👏👏👏👏

Well said! Blogging is about THE COMMUNITY!!

And, yes, I’m so angry when I take time to comment on people’s posts time and time again and, I’m not even saying that they don’t comment on my posts, they don’t even acknowledge they read the comments I left!!! That’s so vexing! Like, I could take that time and comment on a post of someone who I know will appreciate it??

I think the only thing you didn’t mention is — MAKE SHOUTOUTS!! Link to posts you liked! To post similar to your post! Idk, I even make sure to choose interesting posts when tagging people in tags and tell readers to check those out. It’s a community! We need to talk up each other!

Also, make your posts readable lol. Basic HTML is not so difficult and many people posted guides. I simply cannot comprehend huge bulks of text with no editing and I’m sure I’m not the only one — people come here to chill so if your text looks like HS homework, it’s just not really inviting and that’s cold truth.

    1. YESSS!! If you dont want people engaging with your writing and sharing their opinions about it then why the fuck you are writing on the internet? 🤣🤣

I totally understand, hon! ITS THE WORST! If people can tale time out from their busy schedules to share their opinions with you, the LEAST you can do is acknowledge them! WHY BE RUDE? What the hell?! I just stopped visiting blogs where my comments constantly left unanswered! Even if the content was great, the vibe was shitty as hell!

YESSSSS!! SHOUTOUTS ARE THE BESTTT!! They are a great way to support your favorite bloggers and make friends with them! And after all, THATS WHAT WE ARE HERE FOR RIGHTTTT?!??

OH YESS! DAMN RIGHTT! All those long paragraphs are just too daunting to even look at, let alone making an attempt to read them! 🤣🤣

      1. YES! Or at least turn of the comments so we don’t waste our time. I’m not trying to be this person who acts entitled but I could have spent that time engaging with someone who wants it

  26. This post was exactly what I needed to read right now! I’m just getting back into blogging and I’m struggling to figure out my place and the content that is important to me. The whole reason that I stopped is because I lost my love for it – due to the fact that I didn’t feel like I had a niche – so I didn’t make it a priority. I think I’ve learned my lesson, though, and I’ve realized that everyone has something unique and different to say, and I just have to work on finding out what that is for myself! Thanks for the lovely post!

  27. I like how your points on what it takes to be a good blogger were not “authentic voice” and “discussions” etc. which I see on advice blog posts (they’re true but also what counts as an authentic voice??) but actual! facts! Thanks ❤

    1. Well..I agree those are SUPER important as well – but you see blogging is as much about writing as it’s about the connections you make here. And in the beginning, concentrating more on the latter – while writing what you love – is the best thing a blogger can do. Because NO ONE’S GONNA NOTICE YOU UNLESS YOU PRESENT YOURSELF TO THEM!! 🤷🏻‍♀️ That’s why I think networking is SUPER important!!

I am sooo glad you liked the post, Sumedha!!! ❤️ THANK YOU SOO MUCH FOR YOUR THOUGHTFUL COMMENT!! 😇🦋
