October felt like a Tolkien book – ENTHRALLING, INTERESTING, a bit fatiguing AND MAGICAL – ALL AT THE SAME TIME. ”I felt sort of stretched, like butter spread on too much bread.”

♥ THE VERY FIRST THING TO KICK START this month was ME BEING NOMINATED FOR MY FIRST BLOGGER AWARD EVERRR!!! I mean, people might say that it’s just a ‘‘silly online thing’ BUT…I DON’T KNOW… IT IS NOT SO FOR ME. I felt deeply honored that AT LEAST SOMEONE CARES FOR WHAT I WRITE. I was thrilled and JAS – THE AMAZING JAS – was the reason behind this.

//MY BOOKISH OBSESSIONS//

♥ I started my month by announcing the BOOKISH OBSESSION for OCTOBER which was WUTHERING HEIGHTS. I have been in love with this book for faaaaaar toooo looong and KNOW FAAAAAAR TOOOOO MUCH about the characters that I just could not resist the urge to shower all of you with some of my thoughts on it, which, as it happens, GOT A GREAT RESPONSE. Sooo….THANK YOU GUYS!! All of you who HAVE OR ARE GOING TO READ Wuthering Heights – YOU. ARE. THE. BEST.

♥As the first post on Wuthering Heights, I chose to desiccate HEATHCLIFF – our very own dark, tragic, twisted ND handsome sweetheart.

H E A T H C L I F F

He is the perfect example of WHAT AN ENRAGED, PASSIONATE HUMAN LOOKS LIKE – something which we don’t get to see in many books since they are so busy glorifying the character’s amiable qualities. HUH!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING THIS and you can’t understand Wuthering Heights without KNOWING HEATHCLIFF DEEP IN YOUR SKIN so, hopefully I have lessened your work a bit by providing a little bit of groundwork WHICH IS OPEN TO CRITICISM, by the way. 🙂

♥ Having discussed Heathcliff to the best of my abilities, it only seemed fitting to give Cathy’s dilemmas and a chance  and share with you what I THOUGHT MUST HAVE BEEN THE REASON behind her betrayal.

No doubt Heathcliff suffered from her ill-decisions but CATHY’S PLIGHT – both before and after the realization that she chose wrong – WASN’T LITTLE EITHER. I sympathized with her on a personal level and that’s what I reflected in the post.

//REVIEWS//

♥ Having decided what I was going to obsess over, I wrote my review for Liars and Saints by Maile Meloy and I AM TELLING YOU, that is one of the BEST books you will read – IF YOU TAKE ME ON MY WORD. I am NOT lying or being biased when I say that –

This book combines THE MOST BASIC OF HUMAN EMOTIONS in the perfect blend and you CANNOT afford to miss it.

♥ Then I found my ‘‘little beauty” – WOMEN IN LOVE by D.H. Lawrence.

I adored this book to bits.

AND I am planning on re-reading it soon. You know, this is one of those books which will NEVER EMPTY OF NEW THINGS TO DISCOVER each time you read it. It was THE MOST PLEASURABLE EXPERIENCE – in EVERY sense of the word, mind you. 😉

I LOOOVED IT and I WILL, TILL THE END OF TIME.

I feel giddy just writing this. I GOT AN ARC!!! WOWWW!

Ever since I started blogging and reading other blogs, I’d feel excited whenever one of you would do an ARC REVIEW. I had never gotten one BUT —

when I got approved for The Sea Beast Takes A Lover,  I almost did a back-flip and broke my spine. I AM TELLING YOU, this book was THE BEST I READ THIS YEAR. (apart from Women In Love OF COURSE.)

 

//OCTOBER’S RE-READ//

For this month, I chose to re-read THE HOBBIT because……WHY NOT??

But as it happens, I DID NOT get the time to actually read but, on one exhausting night – tired from ALL THE REALITY, I DID WATCH THE MOVIES again and was struck with this AMAZING IDEA TO SHARE THORIN’S golden WORDS OF WISDOM.  

With all of his hair flipping, and majestic shouting, and smoky glares, HE IS ONE OF THE BEST CHARACTERS both in the books and movies and I couldn’t NOT WRITE THIS POST  now, could I ?

 

//A READER’S LIFE//

It was a gloomy day. Clouds were spread all over the blue sky. It looked like a graveyard of unshed tears. I was out on my terrace – just staring at the unusual facade the heavens had put up.

AND THAT’S WHEN IT HIT ME – we readers ARE JUST LIKE THE SKY – with dimensions and dimensions to our gloomy minds.  And my thoughts took the shape of the post titled – The Insides of A Reader’s Mind.

Moondust is something very personal to me. It is going to be a collection of all the thoughts I entertain on a daily basis. This month, however, it is still in it’s infancy so I only wrote one post for this column titled – L O V E.

I shared in it my most intimate dilemmas whenever this word is spoken to, around or for me.

I am a romantic at heart, no doubt about that, but my beliefs and thoughts on this profound emotion are a little, what you might call, unrealistic if read from the perspective of a ‘man of world’ – the one with SENSE and ABSOLUTION on his utmost priority.

Anyway, I  hope YOU like what I wrote and that my words resonate with you.

I won’t be talking about the number of books I read BECAUSE I AM FUCKING ASHAMED. 

I did not get a time to complete my challenge to myself for this month – TO READ 30 BOOKS IN OCTOBER. I was SOOO DAMN SURE I COULD DO IT. I HAD done it before. But, oh well, I guess all days can’t be the same. BUT…I WILL ACHIEVE THAT GOAL IN NOVEMBER. I PROMISE.
