[MY BOOKISH OBSESSIONS] October 2017 //WUTHERING HEIGHTS//

I remember when I first read it. And I remember feeling cheated. YES. THAT’S how I was left feeling by the end of the book. A story filled with passion + heartbreak + revenge PITIFUL revenge, I could not get it out of my mind for MONTHS! I was introduced to Gothic Literature by this very, soul-wrenching book and it became a part of me. And so, I have decided to discuss WUTHERING HEIGHTS this month.

All you people who haven’t read it yet, I hope that by the end of the month, I’ll be able to convince you to give it a try. And those who HAVE read it – WELL, YOU JUST FOUND AN OUTLET TO LET YOUR EMOTIONS FLY, PEOPLE!!!

(OKAY, THIS WAS MY FEEBLE ATTEMPT AT MAKING AN AESTHETICs FOR WUTHERING HEIGHTS. I KNOW, IT’S NOT MUCH BUT IT DOES REPRESENT THE BOOK IN ALL IT’S DARKNESS AND PASSION AND SADNESS. )

So I can’t talk more about the book JUST YET *eye roll – OBVIOUSLY* BUT I can share with you SOME (because BELIEVE ME THERE ARE A LOTTT!!!) of my favourite quotes. 🙂

ARRRGGHHH!!! I should stop before I quote the whole book in this post.

Wuthering Heights holds a permanent place in my heart and mind and I HOPE I CAN MAKE YOU SAY THE SAME.

    1. I KNOW RIGHT??!?! It just drained my ability to feel for some time. The only thing I could think about was Heathcliff’s mad passion for Cathy and their tragic end.. GAAAHHHHHHH!!! I have suffered A LOT of emotional wreckage due to that book.😞 And yet, I keep coming back for some more clobbering. 😂😂 HOW SMART AM I, EH? 😂😂

  3. I think I was the only person in my AP Lit class for 12th grade that actually liked this book! My roommate and I watched the movie together one of our first nights in my new apartment, and I’d forgotten how dark and angsty the novel is. (But the movie we watched didn’t exactly follow the book as well as it should have.)

      Oh, which movie did you watch? I have only watched the adaptation starring Tom Hardy. 😐

      1. I…I’m actually not sure which one I watched. It came in a giant box set of movies. I’ll have to wait until I get home and figure it out! I think it was one that was actually a mini TV series, because it seems to be divided into three parts. I’ll check, though!

  4. I read this book back when I was in grade 7, so I don’t really remember the story but what I do remember is that I had my emotions flying around after reading it. I’ve been trying to read it again so hopefully then I’ll come back and comment here x

Wuthering Heights can do that to a person – leave them gasping for normality, for mundane life because sometimes, ALL THAT PASSION CAN PLAY TRICKS ON OUR MINDS AND OH BOY, both Cathy and Heathcliff’s fate was tragic and YET SATISFYING and I don’t even know why! That’s the kind of frustration I feel. 😅

  5. The aesthetics are sooo on point! I read Wuthering Heights a couple of years back and I loved it pretty much. This book was suuuuper dark but I loved it anyway! But I’m glad you enjoyed it way more than me!! 😀
